Ive just added some more of Tasmanian mining share images. Many thanks again to Downies and Nobel Auctions, Tasmaniac and the West Coast Heritage Centre in Zeehan, JATW and the many others for their assistance in making this possible. I will try and format it so the shares are the same size and open into the new large easy to view format. As you can imagine its several thousand share images and will take some time to collate them all better than they are at the moment. I just feel its important to get them out there as soon as possible and hopefully let people get to use them and see them.

Ive also made images available to guest visitors to view. People will not need to register on the site to see them and in turn opens the site up to google image results.

I also still have a large amount of not seen before tasmanian mining share images to upload and hope to get them online over this winter hopefully.

have a great day

Hi Fox and all

Its been really helpful to have. And, im very thankful. I got permission today from Nobels auction house in Sydney as well so have the two best numismatic sellers in the country supporting it. I've found shares of Tasmanian mines not listed elsewhere and names of people not listed etc. I just think it paints a clearer picture if you can see the mine share. It shows the date the mine was functioning. The name of the people backing it and how many shares had been sold to a degree. I still have another 1800-1900 or so shares still to find. But i'm plugging away at it. Nobles helping out took a lot of pressure of that job. Thank you..

The above list is too big, sorry. I will try and get organised into smaller units so its easier to find stuff. Its just easier for me to find all the mines listed in one page and then add the images. once that's done i can break it up a bit.

The tasmaniac.com site seems to have been compromised unfortunatly. I managed to get all of the prospecting syndicate shares listed. But, unfortunately none of the mining shares he has got done before his site went down. Ive spoken to Ditier before and he is really into our history and im pretty sure he will have backups of the images. hopefully. If not its all good. The shares are traded regularly online so they will eventually come up for sale at some stage.

Thank you too for the awesome info you have written.

have a fantastic day all

Kindest Regards

Crikey! I nearly wore my mouse out scrolling through that lot - but WOW, what an impressive list! Top marks Phil for having the dedication and enthusiasm to compile it. I don't know how you manage to find the time, given your work, study, family commitments and recreational interests. It will be a very useful and valuable reference for a lot of people including myself. Good on you Mate,
Cheers, Fox :)

Wow , that's fantastic research , well done and how interesting there were so many mining groups out there at the time and considering the conditions in those days one can't help but admire them all , we can only hope they left some of the good stuff
for us eh ! " HATS OFF TO THE OLD BOYS "

hi all

i tracked down another 100 Tasmanian mining share images today and just got permission to use them on the site. And still have Nobels auctions to talk to tomorrow. So should end up with well over 500 Tasmanian mining and prospecting share images. I started optimizing the images today too, so they load faster and save the server having a hernia with that many photos on it. I also noticed some of the first ones i did are too small, so will fix them tomorrow as well, if i get time so you can see them. The dates on the shares are not the official mine launch and some are several years after the event. But still give a decent picture on time frames/ The rush to peg in 1891 was i think driven by desperation and the success of the Iron Blow, Mount Lyell and Lynchs creek. August 1891 was when the Bank of Van Diemens land failed and they stopped letting people take there money out. Would have been a bad time for sure. Thankfully for the state, many of the mines registered around that time where successful.

i just found another Tasmanian mining share not listed today. The original 1888 hidden treasure mine at back creek! To a Mr McQueen of Launceston. I have a bit of time this week and will try and get all the share images and their date of issue listed. And, hopefully track down any early Tasmanian mines not listed. The list is getting so big, i may have to break it all down into chronological order. With a separate forum for each. I would prefer alphabetically. But that will take time. Once This is complete i will make sure Tasarchive get an up to date list. And then start on the earlier historic mines like Mount Bishoff etc.

This mine in particular i have looked for myself. There is no mention of it on bonzle or MRT or trove or archive. but having a mine called the new hidden treasure at Lefroy. I was sure their was an original hidden treasure mine and it had to about in the same geographical region. It was, just over the hill at Back Creek.

Hi all

i just wanted to let everyone know, Downies coins (Australia's most respected coin dealer and Australia's Oldest Numismatic Auction House) gave permission for the site to use some of there Tasmanian mining share images today and if i can express my extreme gratitude to them as well. I have not found any new mining companies in there images yet. But, did notice one share was a different colour to another image i have, of the same company. So interesting and for 130 year old documents, remarkable.

These people are helping Tasmania preserve a part of its history and is about the most awesome thing i think anyone could do for us. The list above is the most correct and complete list of historical Tasmanian mines available. and it will only get better. thank you
