Great website on gemology and the hunt for perfect gemstones. The author is a GIA gemologist.
Some of the interesting things that relate to the Tasmanian sapphire occurrences are the basalt formations and basalts coloration of sapphire crystals in matrix. Madagascar, Cambodia, Afghanistan and other hard rock Sapphire mines worldwide. The indicators all display a very similar joining and colour to each other regardless of its place of origin.
