Northeast 65 carat zircon

Postby blisters » Fri Jan 27, 2017 5:32 pm

Hi all. Got this beaut flawless honey coloured zircon this week in one of our creeks, topping the scales at nearly 65 carats! That's got to pick the interest up!

Got my interest! Are you thinking to have it cut then or keeping it as a natural specimen? Strong argument for either option I would say.

Hi ratters. Yeah not sure as yet. Very nice as a specimen but would be awesome as a cut piece! We got it off flogged ground so it just pays to double check what you are actually throwing back out of the sieve!

Well....when i say flogged ground, i mean flogged ground digginhard. Would you believe me if i said it was in the weld river, happily crow barring away moving those big rocks 20 metres below the now concrete bridge at moorina. We dont mind doing a bit of human excavating. I saw a really nice blue come out of there a little while ago as well!

Forgot to say. We work up the bush and try and get in at least once a week or more if we can find the time. Expecially while the water is a bit warmer!
