Prospectors license in Tassie not so expensive after all.

Postby warrenaw » Fri Dec 02, 2016 10:05 pm

Was talking to some friends who live in Squeaking Point about prospecting, and they brought out their great great grandfather's Californian Miner's permit, dated 1852, during the gold rush there.

Thought it might be nice to put an image of it here.

Three 1852 dollars for one month of mining must have been a mighty high price to pay way back then.
Pickings then must have been very good indeed!

It is in a glass frame, professionally sealed. Took quite a few shots to get a good one without some sort of reflection.
I lied. Its their great grandfather and not great great. He settled down and married at the ripe old age of 68, I am told.
