Dig EVERY target

Postby warrenaw » Thu Aug 03, 2017 8:53 pm

About 100 meters from the road at 8 Mile Creek! I know the area has been flogged hard, but waved the detector around anyway. This was the weakest signal you could imagine. Expected a hot rock or bit of charcoal but dug it anyway, but down about a foot there it was.
No other signals nearby, and not a speck of gold when panning that spot.
Thanks so very much to Sean or Lionel. I forget which of you guys it was who suggested to look in that creek.
Finally getting to love my SDC2300!

DAAAAAYUUUUUM! very nice work Warren. A nice jagged bit too... barely looks like it even made it into the creek. how inspirational! I needed seeing that after spending several weekends awayin the NE for nudda! swaggin in -0 weather. can't wait for the days to get a little longer and the weather to get a little warmer so i can head away for a days up the NW!

keep the Yella coming everyone!

The nugget spent 10 days in some All-Bright cleaner, such as is suggested by Miguel on his homepage website. Wonderful stuff. I recommend it to anyone trying to get that black stuff off their gold from the West. Also, it loosens the grit/clay, etc so it just falls of.

Result is 1x nugget total weight 8.00gms. I x picker .3gm , 1 picker .7gm, and obviously about a gram of sand/dirt.
Intriguing how crystalline the structure of the thing now appears to be.
Makes you appreciate just how heavy gold is relative to dirt/clay/ironstone.
I was worried it would lose a LOT more weight than it did after seeing the volume of what came off during soaking and rinsing..
