ROCKY RIVER Australia day weekend

Post by Philski » Mon Dec 29, 2014 11:20 pm

We are going to repair the Rocky river track just west of Savage river on the Australia day weekend 24th-25th-26th January 2015. Anyone able to assist even for an hour is most welcome. The track is in a bad state of repair in places going down to the Whyte River. At present it is dangerous to drive on even with lift kits and muddies on etc. The Whyte River crossing to the Rocky will be optimum that time of year and the Rocky river itself offers plenty of historical workings and gold and some of our stunning natural West coast scenery. The area is heavily mineralized upstream and most metal detectors overload on the lumps of iron laying around. So a simple gold pan will reap more reward than detecting mostly. However, there are some areas worth a shot with a coil. The area is reputed to be the home of the largest gold nugget ever found in Tasmania.

Anyway. if anyone is interested and needs a lift or directions to it, just ask.

have a fantastic and safe new years.

Hi Phil and everyone, I still plan to be there with my vehicle, pick, shovel & sandbags. Looking forward to doing some prospecting after the work's done.
Best wishes to all for the new year.
